Hey y'all! It's been a minute since I've made a post on here.

What Have I Been Up To?

Well, for starters, I have been going back to church and reconnecting with my faith. I have a scheduled appointment with my Bishop today to make plans to visit one of the nearby temples. I've had a temple recommend for a while, and even though I've been a lifelong member of the LDS church, I haven't actually been to a temple! So, I am in the process of "fixing" this.

Other than that, I had a terrific Thanksgiving. My aunts and cousins came to visit, and they brought a ton of sodas, including a seasonal Canada Dry fruit-flavored ginger ale! Oh, and speaking of sodas - I've recently discovered butterscotch beer from Costco! Boy, oh boy, is this stuff delicious; finally, a drink that tastes just like butter beer from Harry Potter!

I've also been making a little bit of money! My mom and I have been DoorDashing for the past month or so. It's a great way to make a little bit of cash. Generally, we only accept orders that pay at least a dollar per mile in tips. Sometimes, we wind up going way out in the woods. It's funny, I've lived in this town my whole life, but I am still learning about the existence of places that exist just a few miles outside of city limits. Typically, Panda Express is the busiest restaurant in town by a country mile; last time, it took us an hour for them to finish our order! Not worth it!

Lastly, we finally have electricity in our home again! The owner of the house came up and jerry-rigged the breaker for us; let's see how long it lasts! Also, my mom cursed out the landlord, and we formally got an eviction notice. Hooray! Now, we just have to find a place to live in the next three months. But first, we will be taking the rental agency and the landlord to court for making us live without electricity for literal months, which is not cool and not legal!

This Weeks Finds

An awesome Super Mario World ROM hack made by Stivi, featuring hungry hungry hippos!

The weird world of first ammendment auditing, where people go into public spaces and just... film people. My favorite in this genre is the Human Wildlife Project. This man has some patience, refusing to speak even a single word even to police officers! The videos start out peaceful as I'll get out, and inevitably descend into a panoply of outrageous reactions! The persons being filmed always invariably call the police, who show up only to tell them that no, it is not a crime to film in a public space.

What I've been playing

I've mostly been enjoying some Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door with a good friend of mine. He's never played the game before, so seeing him experience it for the first time is a real treat! We're at chapter 5 right now. We've also been playing some SSX Tricky. I let my two-year-old lil' nephew play with me, and man did he suck! But, it was fun to bond with him over some classic games.

My controller adapter broke (it's a flimsy J5create from Wal-Mart), so I'll have to buy a new one. The only games I can play without a controller, basically, are GBA games, including a Pokémon Emerald ROM hack, which is pretty fun.
